Earlier this week, many Facebook users were posting red hearts in support of breast cancer awareness, but not everyone was so pleased as one woman. Erin Smith Chieze, opened up about why a “cute heart” isn’t going to help save lives and posted the below letter paired with the above image.
She told us her story and how she detected breast cancer. She fought and she won the bottle with this terrible disease.
Erin Smith Chieze posted the photo above on Facebook and she declared:
“ In December of 2015 when I saw an invention that looked like one of these pictures, I instantly knew I had breast cancer. “ she said “ I tried to feel for a tumor, but my tumor was non palpable. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 days later and with stage 4 the following month. A heart did nothing for awareness. I knew what breast cancer was. I knew all about self exams, but a picture of what to look for keyed me into knowing I had a terminal disease.”
That is why we all need real information about this disease and how to detect it. If we don’t recognize it in time it can be fatal.
Erin found the true about this disease and shared it with us. The photo she shared is a part of the Know Your Lemons campaign started by the Worldwide Breast Cancer organization.
