Never skip breakfast
Latest research shows that eating breakfast helps you control your weight. Lots of people think that if they skip breakfast, they will lose weight. Skipping meals isn`t the solution, because you can miss out on essential nutrients and probably encourage you to snack more throughout the day because you feel hungry.
Eat regular meals
It`s the same as skipping breakfast, lots of people think that if they skip meals will lose weight, but it`s been shown that eating regularly during the day actually helps burn calories faster. It also reduces the temptation to snack on foods which are high in fat and sugar.
Plan your meals
Make sure you stick to your calory allowance by planning your breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try planning for seven days worth of meals and snacks and make a shopping list when you do it. Avoid making shopping lists when you are hungry as that can lead you to high-calorie buys.
Get more active
The key of losing weight and keeping it off, sure is regular activity. Exercise can help you burn off the excess calories that you can`t cut through diet, as well as providing numerous healthy benefits.
Drink plenty of water
People sometimes confuse thirst with hunger, that`s why they usually end up consuming extra calories when a glass of water is what they need. Simple as that. You should aim to drink six to eight glasses of water every day.
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables
Fruit and vegetable contains plenty of vitamins and minerals. They are low in calories and fat, but high in fibre, which makes them three essential ingredients for successful weight loss.
Eat high-fibre food
Perfect way for losing weight is eating food that contains lots of fibre, because fibre helps you feel full. You can only find fibre in food from plants, such as beans, peas, lentils, oats, wholegrain bread, brown rice, pasta and of course fruit and vegetables.
Use a smaller plate
By using smaller plates, you may be able to get used to eating smaller portions without even feeling hungry. Stop eating before you feel hungry and when you do, eat slowly, because it takes about 20 minutes for the stomach to tell the brain it`s full.
Cut down on alcohol
Drinking too much can easily contribute to weight gain. For example pint of lager has about the same calorie count as a packet of crisps and a glass of wine can contain as many calories as a piece of chocolate. So try to cut down on alcohol, it`s for your own health.
Don`t stock junk food
Avoid stocking junk food, such as sweet fizzy drinks, biscuits, chocolate, instead stock up on healthy snacks, such as fruit, fruit juice, oat cakes, unsalted popcorn, unsalted cakes etc.
