What Should Your Blood Pressure Be According to Your Age?

It has been confirmed in a research in which 2000 seniors took part that regulating your blood pressure is very helpful while it’s still possible to do so, as when you grow older, it could be very harmful or something impossible. The whole world was surprised by the results which were published online in the Archives of Internal Medicine.

When we talk about high pressure, first, we have to tell you that hypertension is a real life threat, and there is no room for mistakes. It has an impact and influence on the function of your kidneys, arteries, and the body in general. It can lead you to many dangerous health problems, as heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure and stroke.

How is hypertension diagnosed?

All healthcare contributors, need the proper picture of your blood pressure and a reminder how things have changed and developed over time. The initial age for the entire process is age twenty. Young people should screen their blood pressure at the regular healthcare visits, at least once in every two years, according to the American Heart Association.

This applies especially to youngsters whose blood pressure is below 120/80 mm Hg.

The blood pressure drops when your heart rests, and the blood pressure rises when your heart beats. Depending on the posture, the stress level, the sleep and the physical activity, the blood pressure varies every different minute. The normal blood pressure for adults that are aged twenty and more is less than 120/80 mm Hg, which is less than 120 systolic and less than 80 diastolic. Unfortunately, a third of the adults in the USA suffer from blood pressure.

Doctors have to make more readings over time if the patients’ blood pressure is raised compared to its normal values. Sometimes, before they diagnose the patients with high blood pressure, they suggest that the patients monitor and observe their blood pressure at home.

If your blood pressure remains higher than 140/90 mm Hg, which is systolic 140 or more and diastolic 90 or more, you have to start off a treatment program, but if your blood pressure has peaked once, it doesn’t mean that you suffer from high blood pressure.

If a patient’s systolic value is 180 mm Hg or more and their diastolic value is 110 mm Hg or more, they should rest for severe minutes and check their blood pressure again. If the situation is the same, they have to seek for hospital help or an emergency treatment for their hypertensive crisis.

It doesn’t mean that you should do nothing and stand still if you have a normal blood pressure value. In order to protect your good health and prevent hypertension, you should change some bad habits which are part of your everyday lifestyle. These changes could also be beneficial for improving your health in general.

Don’t forget to share this with your friends and family on Facebook, you might help someone in need!
